PUBLICATIONS The book, WILDFLOWERS OF PENNSYLVANIA, by Mary Joy Haywood, RSM, Ph.D. and Phyllis Testal Monk, M. Ed. was published in 2001. It is beautifully illustrated with 612 colored photographs. The photographs were taken by the members of the Botanical Society. The plants are arranged by families within the text. Each photograph is accompanied by the scientific name, common name, a brief description of the flower, whether native or introduced, blooming time and location of the plant within the state. The cost of this publication is $20.00 plus tax plus mailing charges. WILDFLOWERS, the monthly publication of the Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania lists the speaker, topic, and relevant information on up-coming events. FIELDTRIPS are planned weekly. The location, date, time, leader(s) and place of meeting are also published in WILDFLOWERS. Members of the Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania have been called upon to perform surveys of plants of important and environmentally threatened areas. Checklists of the National Great Meadow and Battlefield of Fort Necessity, the National Historic Site of Friendship Hill, the Spruce Bog located in Linn Run State Forest and the Flora of Mt. Davis have been completed.
