Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania
The Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in the Kresge Theatre at Carlow College. Members and guest speakers present topics of botanical interest. The public is invited to attend these meetings. The meeting in December is a members' night celebration. Foods are prepared by the members of the Society. Media presentations of the members' "favorite plants" of the year are shown.
Fieldtrips , led by members of the Botanical Society occur weekly. Areas of special botanical interest are surveyed and the plants located in these areas are studied and recorded. These excursions are open to the public.
Extended botanical forays are scheduled to specific areas of interest. Some of these places have been the Bruce Peninsula in Canada, Dolly Sods in West Virginia, Presque Isle Sand Dunes in Erie and the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.
