| Bowls in the Night Returns to Carlow for Another Night of Fun and Pottery |

Media Advisory
The Event Supplies Bowls for the Empty Bowls Dinner on March 10 at Rodef Shalom
Pittsburgh, Pa. It's not every night that local potters, art teachers, and students spend nearly eight hours making clay bowls, but at Carlow University it happens every year.
"Bowls in the Night," the brainchild of Carlow's art department chair Dale Huffman, will be held from 5 p.m. through 1 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013, in the pottery studio on the first floor of Antonian Hall.
Huffman calls upon his friends, colleagues, and students to help him make between 200-250 clay bowls for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest's Empty Bowls Dinner. The charitable dinner is a modest meal of soup and bread that reminds us that millions of Americans go to bed hungry each and every night.
Empty Bowls topped the $500,000 mark (cumulative) last year and will begin its push towards $1 million raised to fight hunger this year. "This event not only benefits an incredibly worthy cause, but is also an opportunity for the students to learn how to use their talents outside of the classroom to serve others," Huffman said. With all of the money that Empty Bowls has raised to help fight hunger, it is easy to see how these talented individuals can use their artistic talents to better the world.
The 18th annual Empty Bowls Dinner will be held this year on March 10, 2013 from 2 p.m. 6 p.m at the Rodef Shalom Congregation in Oakland. Tickets, which are $20, are on sale through the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank at www.pittsburghfoodbank.org and will also be available for purchase at the door.
