Carlow University Wins First Round Game in USCAA National Tournament

Celtic Hoopsters Defeat Springfield, Illinois-Based Robert Morris University

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Although they waited a long time for their first taste of post-season basketball, the Carlow University Celtics showed that they enjoy March Madness with a 60-48 first-round victory today in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament being held this week at Penn State Fayette.

The Celtics, who were seeded ninth in the field, were matched against the eighth seeded Robert Morris University from Springfield, Ill. Carlow's junior forward Anjelica Pantojas, a product of Ringgold High School in Donora, Pa., led the Celtics' scoring attack with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guards, Chanel Berry, from Ravenna, Ohio, and Jessalyn Timko, from Belle Vernon, Pa., had 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Next up for Carlow is Rochester College from Rochester Hills, Mich. The game is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Penn State Fayette.
