Carlow University Reschedules Day, Evening, and Weekend Classes During G-20 Summit

Most September Classes to Be Made Up During October Fall Break

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Due to the G-20 Summit being held in Pittsburgh, Carlow University has announced that it will reschedule all classes beginning after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, until Sunday, September 27, 2009. All of the classes will be rescheduled; most during what was planned to be the University's Fall Break on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20.

"Although the scheduling of the G-20 in Pittsburgh has been planned for several weeks, the extent of disruption to Carlow only became apparent last week with the official notification that the organizing location for protesters is at Craft and Fifth avenues," said Margaret K. McLaughlin, Carlow University's provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. "Given all the events and issues related to the G-20 Summit meeting, we have decided to reschedule all day, evening, weekend, and graduate classes on our Oakland campus from Wednesday, September 23 starting at 4 p.m. until Sunday, September 27, 2009."

Classes scheduled for Wednesday evening, September 23, will be rescheduled for Wednesday evening, October 21. Classes scheduled for Thursday, September 24, and Friday, September 25, will be rescheduled for Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20, respectively. Weekend classes scheduled for September 26 and 27 will be rescheduled for the preceding weekend, September 19 and 20. The weekend classes do not meet every weekend.

In addition to the changes in the class schedule, the University has rescheduled several events originally planned for the week of the G-20 Summit. Mercy Founder's Week, a weeklong celebration of the Sisters of Mercy who founded Carlow, has been rescheduled for the week of October 19, with Mercy Service Day, to be on Wednesday, October 21. Alumnae Reunion Weekend, originally scheduled to begin Friday, September 25, will be rescheduled for October 16 through 18, 2009.
