Carlow's Women of Spirit Institute® Adds Environmental Career Workshop

High School Girls to Learn about Environmental Career Opportunities Next Summer

Pittsburgh, Pa. - High school girls in grades 9 through 12 who are interested in careers in environmental sciences will have a new opportunity when Carlow University's Women of Spirit Institute® launches its third summer workshop for high school girls in June, 2009.

ECO (Environmental Career Opportunities) Camp, the new workshop offered by Carlow's Women of Spirit Institute® on June 23, 24, and 25, 2009, will allow students to meet with faculty and professionals working in environmental or "green" careers, as well as girls with similar interests in science. The workshop will include field trips to Pittsburgh locations where environmental work is being done. There will be an emphasis on the science behind caring for the environment.

ECO Camp is the third offering from the Women of Spirit Institute®, following Summer Science Nation, a workshop being offered for the third time which is designed for girls interested in careers or research in the natural sciences, and Prepare to Care, the highly successful workshop being offered for the fourth time for girls interested in exploring health care careers. All three workshops last three days. Summer Science Nation will take place July 7, 8, and 9, and Prepare to Care will take place July 14, 15, and 16.

The cost of each workshop is $225, and enrollment is limited to 25 students. Financial aid is available. To register, simply visit www.carlow.edu.
